This month the Simply Create Too Design Team Challenge is to make a Card using Diecuts. I love die cuts. I have invested a little fortune in dies and don’t use them nearly enough. I have made two different cards using dies and papers from my stash. The only ink I used was on the sentiments.
Card 1 – I just received a shipment of dies, stamps, and embossing folders from Darlene at Dutch Paper Crafts so I had to make a couple of cards for this month’s challenge. I used papers from my paper hard, my Tim Holtz Vagabond Die Machine. The sentiment is from SSS. The adorable Zebra is by Marianne Designs - COL1447 Zebra/Donkey Die Set. The Embossing folder/die is from DF3444 Anja’s Flower Border Embossing Folder with matching Dies (I used the die upside down on the embossed background and cut it down to fit an A2 card).
Card 2 – This card uses die from Memory Box – UNDERWATER COLLAGE Craft Die 99742 and SEAWEED COLLAGE Craft Die 99727, plus Marianne Designs – Elines Tropical fish seahorse col1431. The sentiment is by SSS. Note: I popped everything up using dimensional foam tape to create a 3-D effect.
Our challenge runs through the month of April (4/6 to 4/27). I look forward to seeing your creations.
For the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Technique Challenge
, the design team challenges you to make a Christmas card using a wet or dry embossing technique. For my card, I used the dry technique. I embossing a clear sheet of acetate with a snowflake embossing folder by Tim Holtz. I used a snowflake patterned paper behind the acetate and a fun “fat” snowman digi stamp from Bugaboo Stamps on top. The coloured my little snowman with Copic Markers. The diecut sentiment, Let it Snow, also has a little embossed element to it. For the final touch, I added three snowflake buttons from my stash.
I look forward to seeing your techniques!
This week at 52CCC, we are asking you to make a card featuring Santa. For my card, I reconstructed some tags I made a couple of years ago featuring Tim Holtz’s stamps, dies, and embellishments. Some of the products I used include: Tim Holtz Sizzix Tattered Pinecone Dies, Tim Holtz Sizzix Die Mini Snowflake Rosettes, Tim Holtz Santa Sketch Christmas Stamp u2-1279, Rock Candy glaze, distress inks, Christmas tags, and more.

Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Design Team’s challenge this week is to make a card using no patterned paper. I decided to create my own background door by using various rectangle cuts of card stock. Once the door was finished, I added a Christmas Wreath die by Tim Holtz and a brad for the doorknob. I even created a tag on the wreath using the vintage Santa stamp on Shrinky Dinky plastic. The inside of my card reads, “Merry Christmas from Our Home to Yours.”
I look forward to see your creations.
