For this Colour Challenge, we are asking you to try to make a card using yellow, gold, and kraft. I used a simple design made up with two fishtail banners, a tree die cut and a star punch. To add interest, I used a wood grain kraft card stock as the base, a patterned kraft card stock for the thin banner, and two tone kraft/yellow card stock for the wide banner. In the wide banner, I cut out a negative tree shape and backed it with gold card stock and decorated it three yellow stars. I also decorated the inside of the card with the tree shape and topped it with a star. The sentiment is from SSS.

One of my favorite card techniques is making a shaker card. I don’t make them as often as I should because they require lots of time and I have issues with getting them proper glued together. I purchased a fun village snowglobe thinlite die set by Tim Holtz called Snowglobe. When I started on this project the dies looked simple enough…NOT! There seemed liked a thousand little pieces, and vs cutting them out in various coloured card stock, I decided to cut them all out in white Neenah 80lb card stock and either ink or use my Spectrum Noir markers. This “simple” card took me over three hours to make! But it did turn out very nice. I am sure if I was to do it again, I could shave at least an hour off my time. The sentiment is from MFT, and the Stitched Snowflakes are from SSS. The sequins are from Taylored Expressions.

UPDATE: My card was chosen as one of the Top 3 at ABC Christmas Challenge “H” is for Home
This week’s challenge is COLOUR COMBO. We challenge you to use all the colours in the challenge above.
For the challenge, I broke out my Spectrum Noir markers. I used a pretty digi called, “Love the Shop” by one of this week’s sponsors, All Dressed Up. I used all the colours for their outfits, plus additional colours for hair and faces. The sentiment is from SSS.

I love making my own embellishments, especially flowers, but when I started looking for inspiration for this week’s challenge in my embellishment box I come across a number of these little origami dress I made last year but never used them.
I started with a background stamp (retired) from JustRite. I stamped it on yellow toned patterned paper. Next I die cut a dress dummy from Memory Box, then popped up my dress on it. I added a belt using Stickles and a button I made from MFT button dies. Next I die cut more buttons using the small and large button dies from MFT and threaded them and popped them up using foam tape. I also added a spool of thread and needle and thread I made using dies from MFT and Memory Box. I also created my own “gems” using gold stickles. I hope you like the results.
Embellishments I made: dress with belt, buttons, gems, needle and thread, spool of thread.

When I am making cards, I will often stamp/colour/die cut duplicates so I can “play” with different arrangements. I like to make a variety of slightly different versions. For this challenge I made 6 Christmas Cards using Simon Says Stamp’s, “Santa at the Beach”. If you ever wondered what Santa does after Christmas – the secret is out. With the challenge being drinks, the stamp set was perfect with Santa and Friend having a cocktail on the beach! I coloured the images with Copic Markers. The sentiments were either from the SSS same set, or Avery Elle’s – Cheers. I also used a Cocktail stamp from Paper Smooches – Free Spirits.
Card 1 – Using torn paper, I was able to create a sandy beach. I fussy cut the images and layered them on the card base. Some were popped up on foam tape for added depth.
Card 2 – using torn paper as ocean waves and sand with fussy cut images. I just made a simply card with Santa enjoying some needed vacation time.
card 3 – used cocktail glass stamp from Paper Smooches – Free Spirits to make a background on the blue card base. The images were fussy cut and arranged to show Santa and his buddy at the beach.
card 4 – I fussy cut the images and using dimensional tape I popped up some images for a more 3D effect.
card 5 – I made a one layer card. I stamped Santa, table, and the Penguin first, set the masks in place then stamped the tree and surf board. The stamp was added last.
card 6 – I used torn paper for the sand, fussy cut and layered the images.
I hope you will join us! It is never too early to start making your cards for Christmas 2017!
