52 Christmas Card Throwdown – Feb 17, 2018 Theme – Polar Bear(s)

Hello Everyone, Myrna here! As a member of the Design Team for 52 CCT Challenge, we all get to select a month of Challenges. For our Theme Challenge, I selected Polar Bear(s). I love all kinds of bears from Teddy Bears to Polar Bears, thus my choice for this month’s theme. For my card I used dies. The bear die is from Marianne Design Cutting Dies & Clear Stamp – Eline’s Polar Bear COL1370. I created the card using various cardstock colours, stamp from Mama Elephant, and Stickles.

Using Embossing to create Texture!

Last week at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown, they challenged us to using the Embossing technique. Because I already had my folders out, I decided to go further into embossing.

I purchased this adorable Santa by Stamping Bellas called Santa is Stuck, I coloured the image using Copic markers. Note: I stamped two images into Neenah Solar White paper, and the other on Ranger’s Surfaces Specialty Stamping Paper, The latter paper did not work well with Copic markers and they did not blend well. I included it into my blog to show the unsuspected poor results.

Card 1 – I used a brick patterned stencil and Dreamweaver paste to create the textured white brick background. I also embossed and cut our a small strip of red brick using  the folder from Marianne Design Embossing Folder and Die – Bricks. To colour the stamped image, I used Copics on Neenah Paper. Sentiment is from SSS.

Card 2 – I used the embossing folder from the Marianne Design Embossing Folder and Die – Bricks set to create the textured background. To colour the stamped image, I used Copics on the Ranger Paper. Sentiment is from the same Santa is Stuck stamp set.

Card 3 – I used both the folder and die from the Marianne Design Embossing Folder and Die – Bricks set to create the textured background. To colour the stamped image, I used Copics on theNeenah Paper. Sentiment is from the same Santa is Stuck stamp set.

I have entered Card 1 into the 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown – Pick a Previous – Sketch Challenge

C.R.A.F.T. – Challenge 329 – 17th of September – Add some Bling

After last week’s challenge, I am still in the Christmas Card mode. I used a wonderful little stamp by Scrappers Delight called Willie- Snow Angel. I started by colouring Willie with Copic markers. I added diamond Stickles to the snow angel lines, and snowflake gems. I used the Lawn Fawn patterned paper as my sentiment.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 297 – 5th of February – Technique Challenge: Decoupage

I do not do very much decoupaging because I always have issues with the papers bubbling. Previously I used Modge Podge, but this time I used Rangers Matte Medium, I also used 80lb card stock. I got an unfinished pine box at a craft table during my G-son’s Christmas Party and wanted to make a box to hold special cards I get from friends and family. I started by painting the box with white acrylic paint. Next I used matte medium to adhere the die cuts, then painted another white coat of paint over it. I think I will add a couple coats of clear coat so it will be easier to clean later on.

Let’s “Shell-abrate”

One of my favourite stamp/die companies is MFT (My Favorite Things). This past spring, they had a retirement sale and discontinued the series by Doodle Garden – Turtle Girl. I am not sure why, but this darling reminds me of my BFF’s Texan Granddaughter. I made up the greeting and printed it on my laser printing. The background is with the Alcohol Ink platter technique (see my previous blogs). I coloured her with Copics
