DTbadge

Our challenge for this week is Christmas. I recently took a workshop with Keren Tamir from Prima and she showed us various ways to make multi-media tags and cards. We used various foil rub-ons, sprays, flowers, pastes, pearls, ribbons, etc. Here are my cards and tags.

C.R.A.F.T. – Challenge 391 – 24th of November – Not a Card

DTbadgeI recently took a series of weekend classes with Keren Tamir, Prima Instructor & Designer. During the two days of workshops hosted by SGD – Scrappin’ Great Deals. London, ON – Keren introduced us to a variety of multi-media products from gel paste to watercolour oil pastels to prima mica sprays. I created a scrapbook page, cards and tags, and finally a wall canvas. The examples below are samples of Keren’s canvases, but she encouraged us to do our own thing.

I opted to make my canvas using three geckos vs trees. We started with cutting up card stock and glueing it to the canvas using Prima’s Soft Matte Gel. (similar to Modge Podge but much better). This gives the canvas added texture, and it is a great way to use up that ugly card stock in your stash! Once dry, we painting the canvas using Prima’s Heavy White Gesso. It was pretty quick drying. To colour the background wed used the Prima Watercolour Oil Pastels. This product is amazing. I have Tim Holtz’s new Distress Crayons, but this product is amazing to work with, and when you add water…WOW! While the colour dried, I drew up 3 geckos and a spiral sun. I cut them out of book pages, then glued them to the canvas. To add more texture, we added mica powder to Prima modeling paste, and used a couple of different stencils. We also inked various areas. I used a honeycomb patterned stamp. I edged and blending more of the oil pastels around the edges of the geckos and sun to make it pop! The final step was to add a sentiment and highlight it using a Sharpie.gecko

Fun with Ink Colours!

I just got three new stamp sets from Prima: SPILLS Cling Stamp 580254, PAINT SPLATTERS Cling Stamp 580230, and PAINT DRIPS Cling Stamp 580223. I needed some Friendship and Thank You cards so I combined them with MFT - Pure Innocence You Colour my World and Paper Smooches - I Heart Art. I coloured the little artist using Copics. Next I selected various Hero Arts & Stampin’ Up ink and the Prima stamped and went to town.

Thinking of You

I love these little funky snails from A Day of Daisies – A Mother’s Burden. I designed the card using the sketch from Digi Sketch Challenge. I coloured the snails with Copics. The dolly die is new from Prima. The sentiment is from my stash.

snailI also entered my card into the Alphabet Challenge – L is for Lace (used a lace doily die cut)
