It is Sketch week at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown. The Design Team have made various card samples to inspire you. For my card, I used a fun little mouse by Penny Black called Jolly Friends. I coloured the mouse with my Copics, die cut him out with MFT Oval Stax, and hand cut the background to fit the sketch.

Our challenge this week at CHCC is to add some gold. My card did not photograph that well because of the reflective nature of the materials but is really pretty in real life. I die cut my deer and trees from gold foil cardstock and glued it on a night sky background I created with my Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi 24 COLOR SET and Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi STARRY COLORS Set of 6. Sentiment die is from Avery Elle, and Deer/Tree die from Penny Black.

For this week’s challenge, we are looking for a Christmas Card with no sentiment on the card front. You are welcome to put your sentiment on the inside of the card. For my card, I tried a painterly effect using Penny Black’s, called Scarlet Majesty. I used Momento watercolour markers and Distress ink on watercolour paper to create the effect. I would refer you to the talented Penny Black Design Team member, Micheline “Mimi” Jourdain to see her demo this technique. She is an amazing artist!
I hope you will join us!
Andreja came up with a wonderful theme for this week’s 52CCT challenge! I really had to put on my thinking cap, As I do not have any Christmas fairy stamps, I made due with my Lawn Fawn – Fairy Friends Stamp. I started with stamp the Christmas Tree from the On the Town Clear Stamp set. I stamped the fairies separately, coloured them with Copic Markers and die cut them out with the matching dies. Next, I added gems to the tree, placed the fairies, then added gems to their hands to make it appear they decorated the tree, The background coloured were created with the new Oxide Distress Inks.
Welcome to the 2018 52 Christmas Card Throwdown first challenge of the month and year! Andreja has designed a fun sketch challenge for us and it is never too early to start your Christmas cards! Besides….it is really fun!
For this challenge, I started by printing my digital stamp from A Day for Daisies - Fuzzy Bunnies. I used my Copic markers to add just a hint of colour. Next, I used an embossing folder (retired) from Stampin Up – Northern Flurries. The sentiment Joy is a Penny Black diecut. My card design is a 5 x 7, so I created the background using some cardstock I had on hand. I created a fishtailed banner in a matching blue to place behind the bunnies card and added it to the card front. For the finishing touches, I added a snowflake button and a few gems.
We are running our challenges weekly, so you will have lots of opportunities to join us making cards for your friends and family.
