For my card I started by creating the background scene using the Landscape die from Memory Box. I diecut the houses/trees/snow from white card stock and backed it with dark blue. Next I coloured a Bugaboo stamp*, called “WRF Up”  *this stamp has been discontinued. Bugaboo added new stamps monthly, and several times a year discontinue older images. Check out their site, and sign up for their weekly newsletter! I fussy cut him out and added him to my night sky. The sentiment is from Penny Black – Festive Snippets.

Christmas is a special time of year. If you are fortunate to live in an area with snow it is truly a Winter Wonderland. For this challenge I used my Penny Black - Christmas Cottage stamp. I used my Derwent Watercolour Inktense pencils. I added Tim Holtz’s Stickles accents to the snow. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

130 Christmas Cards for Seniors!

christmas-images-1

Every year I make 130 Christmas cards for the Belmont Long Term Care Home. It is my way of paying it forward for the fabulous care they provided my mother. I love to colour while watch TV so I will stamp numerous images and hand colour them with Copic Markers, Zig Water Colour Brushes, Derwent Inktenses Pencils, or Distress inks. Once I get a number completed, I then sit down and start to assemble my cards. No two cards are the same, While I may use the same image, I colour them differently, use a different card format, different card stock, etc. I also make Fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween, Easter/Spring, Valentine’s Day, Remembrance Day (for the veterans), plus birthday cards. It keeps me busy, and I really enjoy it. I also make cards for myself and friends. I dropped the cards off for distribution on December 1, 2016.

Blended Backgrounds and Penny Black

I took another workshop with Heather Telford in Ottawa. As long as the weather is not too crazy, I hope to continue taking her classes year round. Ottawa is about a 5 hour round trip, but certainly worth the fun and friendship. The cards below I made when I got home. The first series of cards were made using the pine tree from Penny Black’s Woodland Beauty. I masked off the moon and snowbanks, and inked the sky using various Distress Inks and the round distressing tool.

These two cards were made using various Distress Stains on watercolour paper. The snowbanks were created by tearing textured card stock, the trees are from dies by Penny Black called Tall Trees. To finish the card, I splatter white ink on the sky to represent snow.

To create the last two cards I used watercolour paper. I created a mask for the snowbanks. Next using a Misti I stamped the pine tree from Penny Black’s Woodland Beauty three times. Once that was complete, the mask was removed and sky painted using Distress Stains. To finish the card, I splatter white ink on the sky to represent snow.
