130 Christmas Cards for Seniors!

christmas-images-1

Every year I make 130 Christmas cards for the Belmont Long Term Care Home. It is my way of paying it forward for the fabulous care they provided my mother. I love to colour while watch TV so I will stamp numerous images and hand colour them with Copic Markers, Zig Water Colour Brushes, Derwent Inktenses Pencils, or Distress inks. Once I get a number completed, I then sit down and start to assemble my cards. No two cards are the same, While I may use the same image, I colour them differently, use a different card format, different card stock, etc. I also make Fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween, Easter/Spring, Valentine’s Day, Remembrance Day (for the veterans), plus birthday cards. It keeps me busy, and I really enjoy it. I also make cards for myself and friends. I dropped the cards off for distribution on December 1, 2016.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 346 – Not a Card

DTbadgeFor this week’s – Not a Card Challenge, I made an ornament. My friends, Pearl & Harvey, and myself have booked a trip to Paris in June. To celebrate our trip, I made a two sided hanging ornament using a blank plastic flat domed circle ornament from Micheal’s.

To my luck the largest MFT – Stitched Circle Frame die was exactly the  perfect size to fit inside the ornament. I cut 2 of the frames. Next I cut two circles to fit inside those frames, and used Distress inks to make the backgrounds. The cute cats are from a set from Newton’s Nook - NEWTON DREAMS OF PARIS. I coloured the little cats using Copic markers, fussy cut them out and set aside. Next I die cut MFT – Eiffel Tower AND Paris Skyline. I assembled the insert with the Calico Cat (representing Harvey) and the Siamese Cat (representing Pearl in love at the bottom of the Eiffel Tower. On the opposite side, the Tabby Cat (representing me) is flying over Paris in a hot air balloon. I glued the dome sides togther and ran a line of gems around to cover the edges.

The Glory of Christmas – Challenge 72 – CAS (Clean and Simple)

SidebarglorykleinerOur current challenge at The Glory of Christmas is CAS (Clean and Simple). I created a lot of white space around my little Cat Christmas bag giving it that CAS feel. I started by colouring the Newton’s Nook - NEWTON’S BIRTHDAY BASH image with Copics. Because the stamp is designed more as a birthday stamp, I paper pieced the bag with Christmas paper from my stash. I inlaid a Memory Box SURELY STITCHED SQUARE Craft Die and offset my little cat. The sentiment is from Newton’s Nook – Newton’s Holiday.

cas2This challenge runs from November 15th until November 27th.

The Glory of Christmas – Challenge 62 – Presents

Sidebarglorykleiner

The Glory of Christmas – Challenge 62  is Presents. For this challenge, I broke out all my Newton’s Nook “Newton the Cat” stamps. I knew I anted to make a multi-fold card before I started but I had not decided on a step, cascade or shutter fold version. I Copic coloured my 7 cat designs, making each cat different. I used: NEWTON’S HOLIDAY MISCHIEF / NEWTON’S BIRTHDAY BASH / NEWTONS ANTICS. Once I finished colouring and cutting them out, I decided to make a shutter fold card. Vs trying to tell you how the card is made, I would refer you to this fabulous video that Sandy Allnock made. This adapted version even gives you some writing space!

Newton’s Party in a Bag!

This week at AAA Cards, the theme is Play-and the photo inspiration shows a cat, twine, and newspaper. While I am definitely a dog lover, I couldn’t resist buying a number of cat stamps by Newton’s Nook. This one is called Newton’s Birthday Bash (the ball of twine is from Newton’s Antics). Vs using a gift bag with tissue and ribbon, I created the cat in a brown paper bag, with newspaper and twine. I paper pieced the image. The newspaper patterned paper is from Prima  Marketing, the bag was kraft paper coloured with copics, and the cat was neenah solar white and copics. I also added real twine and a few accent gems.

This month over at Catherine and Cathy Create the theme is pack your bags. I always take my dog with me when I travel, and it can be quite a challenge to make sure you pick foods, water, toys, etc. I thought “newton” in a bag was quite appropriate, showing the little cat ready to go.
