CHNC blog button DT

Our Challenge at Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge is to make sure you are using some GREEN in your project. I used a fun image from Lili of the Valley Stamp, called James Snow Angel. It is available in both a digital and rubber stamp. I stamped him on Neenah Solar White Cardstock and coloured him with Copic markers. I layered him on various papers from my stash.

This challenge will last for the whole month of December 2017 – anything goes as long as it’s Christmas – it doesn’t have to be a card, you can link any project as long as it’s Christmas!

Once again this year, all of these monthly challenges are being generously sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps - a winner will be randomly chosen using random.

Bugaboo Stamps are proud to sponsor this challenge – they are offering 4 digital stamps to the randomly selected winner.

I love the little kids and critters from Lili of the Valley stamps. This cute little guy is called, “James – Christmas Tree.” I coloured him with Copics and added some Stickles. To add to the glitter I layered him on glittered paper. The final step was to assemble my card and stamp a sentiment from Penny Black’s Festive Snippets.

Christmas is a special time of year. If you are fortunate to live in an area with snow it is truly a Winter Wonderland. For this challenge I used my Penny Black - Christmas Cottage stamp. I used my Derwent Watercolour Inktense pencils. I added Tim Holtz’s Stickles accents to the snow. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

130 Christmas Cards for Seniors!

christmas-images-1

Every year I make 130 Christmas cards for the Belmont Long Term Care Home. It is my way of paying it forward for the fabulous care they provided my mother. I love to colour while watch TV so I will stamp numerous images and hand colour them with Copic Markers, Zig Water Colour Brushes, Derwent Inktenses Pencils, or Distress inks. Once I get a number completed, I then sit down and start to assemble my cards. No two cards are the same, While I may use the same image, I colour them differently, use a different card format, different card stock, etc. I also make Fall/Thanksgiving/Halloween, Easter/Spring, Valentine’s Day, Remembrance Day (for the veterans), plus birthday cards. It keeps me busy, and I really enjoy it. I also make cards for myself and friends. I dropped the cards off for distribution on December 1, 2016.

Fun with Embossing!

This week’s challenge at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown Challenge is Embossing – Heat or Dry. Well I decided to make dry embossed cards using a couple of different stamps/die cuts/punches.

Card 1: I used Memory Box SILENT SNOWFALL Craft DIE 98670 as an embossing die. n place of my cutting mat on my Big Shot. I used a silicone mat so the die “embossed” the background vs cut through it. I freehand cut the snow hills, the the little penguin is a modified Owl Punch by Stampin Up. I added googly eyes, sequins, clear stickles, and snowfall stickers to embellish the card. The sentiment is by Papertrey Ink.

Card 2 – I used a lined embossing folder to resemble wood siding. The “arched window” die and “a glimpse inside” stamp are from Taylored Expressions. The floral boughs were created with Memory Box Die Cutting BREEZY WREATH (cut in half using two colours of card stock) and Truly Gifted Die. I coloured the stamped image using Derwent Inktense Watercolour pencils. The tag was created using the oval and scalloped punch by Stampin Up. The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions.

Card 3 – I used numerous products. I started by creating my background using Darice Embossing Folders SNOWFLAKE BACKGROUND. Next I stamping the little knitting sheep using the Lawn Fawn FLEECE NAVIDAD Stamp set. I coloured her using Copic markers. The little tree was created with the Christmas Tree Stamps and punch set by Stampin Up. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley.

I entered this card into 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown – Technique Challenge – Embossing. I have also put my name forward as a possible Design Tean member for 2017

Card 4 & 5 – Last year I cut out a number of tree shapes using my Cricut machine. Initially they were to be tags for gifts, but were never used, so this year I decided to emboss them using Cuttlebug Embossing Folder A2 – Snowflakes. I embellished them with pearls/gems and glitter star stickers. I used a couple of cute mouse stamps by Penny Black – xmouse ornament & jolly friends.
