Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge – September 2019

Here at Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge, we challenge you to use patterned paper in your project. If you are like me, I buy a lot of patterned paper, but never use it. What are you waiting for! I have all the MFT Blueprint Dienamics. They were specifically designed to help the maker create fun card layouts. I used MFT #3 Blueprints for my card design and added a Copic coloured stamped image called Bear Bunny from Hambo.

This week we are looking for Christmas card based on a sketch by 52CCTC Design Team member EK. To make my card I started with using one of my sunshine burst dies. Once I paper pieced it together, I cut it on the diagonal. I layered it on matching patterned paper and added a large 2.5 inch circle cut with a round punch. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesdays. I added The manger image is a rubber stamp from Hambo called, “Manger”. I coloured the image with Copics.

Our first challenge of the New Year will run as a 2 week challenge instead of the normal weekly challenge. The Design Team is looking for something “New”. I chose to make a Happy New Year card. I coloured with my Copic markers an adorable digi stamp by Hambo – Happy Newt Year, and paper pieced his tropical shirt. Have fun with this challenge, and I am wishing you all a Happy New Year.

CHNC blog button DT

This week at Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge we are looking for something “CUTE”. The background paper inspired my card. I used an adorable digi image from Hambo Stamps called, “Bailey Christmas.” I coloured my little dog with Copic markers, fussy cut him out, and popped him up on the cardstock using Stampin’ Up Dimensionals. The “For you” sentiment is from Stampin’ Up and “Holiday Wishes” is from Stampin’ Up.

GUEST DESIGNER at Outlawz -Twisted Thursday – With a Twist – Stars – June 1st

Hello everyone. I was invited to be a guest designer for the month of June by the DT team at Outlawz. You can join for free! They have a fabulous blog – full of challenges, tutorials, forum, freebies, gallery and more. I am designing for their Thursday Twist Challenges. This challenge is “open” with a added twist each week. This week’s Twist is “Stars.” To find out more about this fabulous group click on the link below.

The Outlawz Challenges

I made two cards to mark the challenge. I started with making the galaxy background. I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi 24 watercolors. After taping my watercolour paper to a board, using a wide brush, I applied clear water to the paper. Next I randomly added various bright colours: yellow, orange, red, blue, purple. Once they dried I coloured the background with dark blue and black leaving small bits of the bright colours to show through. I let dry again. For the final touch I splattered white over the background to create stars. I set aside to dry.

For my first card, I did a space theme. I used Hambo‘s digi stamp, Space Boy Set. I coloured him with Copic marks and fussy cut him and the planets out. Next I glued them on the background. I added mini die cut stars from SSS. I mounted the background on black card stock. The final step was adding a sentiment by Whimsy Stamps called, “Vintage Sentiments – Digital Sentiments.”

 Card 2

For my second card, I did a nursery rhyme theme. I used Whimsy Stamps digi stamp, Over The Moon Cow. I coloured him with Copic marks and fussy cut him and the moon out. Next I glued them on the background. I added mini die cut stars from SSS. I mounted the background on black card stock. The final step was adding a sentiment by Whimsy Stamps called, “Vintage Sentiments – Digital Sentiments.”
