C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 456 – 22nd of February – Alien/Fantasy

With all the cards I make, I have very little children cards. This week’s challenge at C.R.A.F.T. is Alien/ Fantasy is perfect for those “Make Believe” cards. I started with creating a space-themed card. Next, I thought -fantasy – unicorns, and flying elephants.

I started with painting a watercolour sky using Distress Ink Safty Ocean, water, and a waterbrush on watercolour paper. While that was drying, I cut out clouds from the Mama Elephant die set - Cloud Nine - Creative Cuts. Next, I stamped my unicorns by MFT - BB Magical Unicorns, coloured them with Copic markers, added Wink of Stella to their horns, tail, and manes, and finally fussy cut them out. I assembled the card and added the sentiment also from the MFT Stamp set.

For my next card, I created the background using Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi 24 COLOR SET, Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi STARRY COLORS Set of 6, on watercolour paper. I set it aside to dry. Next, I stamped and coloured Mama Elephant’s – Space Bears with Copic markers. I fussy cut them out and started assembling the card. I added hand drawn stars and air hoses for the space suits, and stamped my sentiments.

For my final card, I used another Mama Elephant stamp set called FLY WITH ME, the matching dies, and Mama Elephant dies set - Cloud Nine - Creative Cuts. I coloured the critters with Copics. I arranged them on the card and stamped the balloons using a stamp set from Clearly Besotted ALL IN ONESIE Clear Stamp.

52 Christmas Card Throwdown – February 10, 2018 – Colour Challenge

Hello Everyone. This month I am in charge of selecting all the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenges. Nothing says cold like the blues. I love monochrome cards and challenge you to try to make a card that focuses on using blue tones. Use as many or few as you want. You can use inks, watercolours, markers, pencils, colour stock etc. to show blue. For my card, I used a fun stamp by Whipper Snapper called, “A Polar Bear Party.” I stamped my image then coloured it with various Copic Blue/Blue Green markers. I also added a little Salty Ocean Oxide ink around the outside edge. I backed the image on white cardstock that I blended Salty Ocean, Broken China, and Peacock Feathers. I flicked on some water droplets for that little extra. \finally I backed the card front on blue cardstock. The sentiment is from Sweet n Sassy – A Cardinal’s Christmas.

Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge 371 – Quick and Easy

CHNC blog button DT

For this week’s Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge, we would like to see a Quick and Easy Card. While my card may look like it would take a while to make it was simply a matter of cutting 3 frames, inking the background, stamping the sentiment and pasting it together. The whole card took me less than 15 minutes. I used Memory Box Die – Debutante Frame and Lamp Post Frame, Tim Holtz’s Oxide Distress Inks, JustRite Re-enforcement die, ribbon, gems, and paper from my stash. The sentiment is from Avery Elle.

Simply Create Too – Challenge 135 – Theme: Favourite Colours

This month’s challenge at Simply Create Too is to make a card using your favourite  colours. I really like pinks and aqua/turquoise. For my card, I started by stamping the buildings and trees using Lawn Fawn’s Christmas Village.  I hand coloured the images using various pink and aqua Copic markers. I die cut them out using the matching dies. The background was created using Tim Holtz Oxide Distress Inks in green, blue, and pinks. I splashed on water droplets to create a snowy texture. Finally, I created my pretty little snowy village.

Crafty Hazelnut’s Christmas Challenge – January 27 – No sentiment

CHNC blog button DT

For this week’s challenge, we are looking for a Christmas Card with no sentiment on the card front. You are welcome to put your sentiment on the inside of the card. For my card, I tried a painterly effect using Penny Black’s, called Scarlet Majesty. I used Momento watercolour markers and Distress ink on watercolour paper to create the effect. I would refer you to the talented Penny Black Design Team member, Micheline “Mimi” Jourdain to see her demo this technique. She is an amazing artist!
