I found a new to me challenge blog devoted to Butterfly cards, called Butterfly Challenge. This week they are looking for Paper Pieced Butterflies.
I wanted to create a soft, feminine birthday card. I used a die set from MFT - Fancy Butterflies Die-namics. This set has a solid and detailed version of two different butterflies. I only used the larger version. I cut out the solid butterflies on textured white card stock. Separately I cut out a yellow and blue detailed version and paper piece them together on the card front. To add that little extra dimension, I cut out two more detailed butterflies of frosted vellum and using glossy accents glued the butterfly bodies only so the wings lift off the page. I cut up a jeweled spray to add some “blinged” movement to the card. The sentiment is from SSS.
I also entered this card into Crafting for All Seasons – Birthday Challenge
UPDATE: I won the Butterfly Challenge and asked to be a guest designer in January 2015.
