Online Card Class – Watercoloured Day 5

Today at the Online Card Class they featured card artist, Swarup Murthy (Sanketi) , and wow can she do a mean card. She showed us how to stamp and then watercolour the stamps. Well I went down to the craft room and tried…ated the results. So I went back upstairs, re-watched the video and back downstairs to try again. My next attempts were better. In the meantime, the rejects dried and started to look a little better. I misted them and let the colours run slightly, and with some creative cropping I used them all. My only disappointed was that I tried making a one layer card for another challenge and messed  up at the last moment when I stamped the sentiment. I saved the card by layering another sentiment on top, but could not use the card in the challenge. Once again no two cards are alike, so I have included all 7 cards I created this afternoon.

I used three stamp sets: Hero Arts – Delicate Blossoms, JustRite – Daisy and Butterfly Kisses.

day 5 3

This butterfly was on a white background and looked pretty blah, but I saw Jennifer McGuire’s video today on her blog, and coloured the white blue-green with distress ink.

day 5 6

I over wet the paper and everything was running into a big blob, but I quickly blotted the water, and unfortunately the most of the colour, off. I kind if liked the soft pastel look.

day 5 4

This was the only one layer card I successfully made. While the watercolour paper is very heavy, it is really hard to make a one layer card because of the nature of the technique…I had colour all over the place!

day 5 5

This card is my favorite of the day. The colours are very vibrant. It is also the card I messed up stamping the sentiment.

day 5 1

These cards were my first attempts. They are all different, but I cut the water colour paper down and double matted them, and they turned out ok.
