Hello everyone. I was invited to be a guest designer for the month of June by the DT team at Outlawz. You can join for free! They have a fabulous blog – full of challenges, tutorials, forum, freebies, gallery and more. I am designing for their Thursday Twist Challenges. This challenge is “open” with a added twist each week. This week’s Twist is “Christmas.” To find out more about this fabulous group click on the link below.
I made two cards for this challenge. Both Skating themes, both totally different.
Card 1: For my first card I used an adorable image from Bugaboo Stamps, called “Winbird Skate”. I coloured him with my Copic markers and layered him on red and black card stock. For some added fun, I used red Stickles for snowflakes and the heart tattoo on his rump. The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps, called “Merry and Bright Digital Sentiments“. There are 11 fun sentiments and 4 Christmas stamps.
Card 2: I love bears, especially Polar Bears! The bears are from MFT, “BB Polar Bear Pals.” I started by colouring the bears with my Copic markers. Next I fussy cut them out and put aside. Next using scraps of card stock, I made a snowy background, complete with frozen lake. I arranged my little critters and for the final detail added clear Stickles. The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps, called “Merry and Bright Digital Sentiments“. There are 11 fun sentiments and 4 Christmas stamps.

I don’t use patterned papers as often as I should. For these two cards I found these great papers by Kaisercraft and just let the papers decide the appropriate images the add. I thought they both made a wonderful background for Tiddly Inks - WinterLight Wishes – Wryn | Digital Stamp. I often will stamp or print out numerous images and colour them at night while watching TV. In this case I used Copic markers. When I was going through my paper/card stock stash I thought the papers and image were perfect. I fussy cut out the little girl and bear and layered them on the paper. The sentiments were part of the same paper pack. I love the results.

This challenge will last for the whole month of June 2017 – anything goes as long as it’s Christmas – it doesn’t have to be a card, you can link any project as long as it’s Christmas!
Once again this year, all of these monthly challenges are being generously sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps - a winner will be randomly chosen using random.
Bugaboo Stamps are proud to sponsor this challenge – they are offering 4 digital stamps to the randomly selected winner.
For my card, I used Joy to the World by Sweet n Sassy Stamps. I coloured baby Jesus with Copics markers. Next I die cut him out using the matching die set. The sentiment is from the same set, hoever I stamped it in Versamark and embossed in Gold. The papers are from my stash.
Please support our sponsor. Bugaboo stamps add new images weekly. They also have great sales and weekly freebies so you can try them out!
Note: Hazel also runs two other challenges -
Hello everyone. This week’s Twist is “Masculine.” I designed two different cards for this challenge. Click on the link below to find out more about this fabulous group!
Card 1: I started with am image from Bugaboo – Gus Birthday – Old Fart. I coloured him with Copic markers. I also printed a Santa’s hat so I could convert the “Birthday” card into a “Christmas” card. I fussy cut him out and layered him on top of a black banner and patterned card stock. For the final touch I added a sentiment from Whimsy Stamps called, “Merry and Bright Digital Sentiments“.
Card 2: I made a collage card using Tim Holtz’s, “Rainman die” and Stamps by Ryn, “Raindrops”. I used patterned kraft paper and popped the image up with dimensional tape. I also use distress inks to add depth. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps called, “Friend Quotes – Digital Stamp.”
For this challenge I did a little twist, vs being inspired by a movie, I was inspired about going to the movies! I used an adorable little girl stamp by Lacy Sunshine Stamps called Rory’s Movie Snacks. I coloured her with Spectrum Noir Markers. I added glossy accents to her eye. I made two versions of the card to show that simple design layouts can change the feel of the card.
