What a Catch!

cfc132

This month’s theme over at CAS-ual Fridays is “What a Catch”. The card is to be a “guy” card and include a piece of ribbon, all the while being CAS. I feel in love with the digi stamps over at From the {Heart} . This little guy is called Fishing Birdbrain. I thought he was perfect for this challenge. I coloured him with Copics and added a little ribbon tag to make it more manly vs a bow!

Kindred Souls Art Cruise with Julie Nutting “Prima Dolls”

I am gearing up for my crafting cruise to Alaska. We had two optional projects, one was to design 15 swag tags using Prima Dolls, and the other was to make a mixed media art piece for a draw swag. Well one of the reasons I am taking the cruise, beside the fact I love the Prima Dolls, is to learn multi-media techniques. I have never make a 3d m-m anything. I was going to make a picture frame, but I found a wooden box at our local Homesense on special and decided to tackle a jewelry or treasure box. One of Julie’s recent releases had a wooden die cut mermaid and a new mermaid stamp so that was my inspiration.

I started using modge podge, but it really bubbled the paper…I ended up going with the flow,so to speak, because it resembled waves. I used stamps by Designs by Ryn, Prima- stamps/die cuts/paper/embellishment, MFT rose dies, real shells, jewels, pearls, netting, sequins, paint, copic markers, and about 10 coats for clear lacquer. Here is the result.

Birthday Banners

This week’s challenge at AAA Cards is based on a sketch and specific colours-pink, orange, green and blue. I choose to modify the sketch a little. I used four coloured “heart” banners of varying lengths. To keep with the CAS I used the orange background as my “white space”. I offset the focal point of the card for added interest. I used dies and stamps from SSS to create my card. It is a little hard to see, but I also added three embossed lines in the blank space on the left to balance the card.

Father’s Day “Cow” Card

I have been drafted to make special cards for my roommate’s family. Her uncle was a dairy farmer and only recently retired. (or I should say semi-retired because farmers never actually retire!) I used a number of stamps and dies to construct this card. The cows are from Paper Smooches – Chubby Chums, the grass die is IO, The Father’s Day sentiment is from Kelly Purdy, and the tree and frame are from Memory Box.

Birthday Boy!

I just so happened to need a birthday card for a 6 year old boy, so I found the challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz - # 22 A Child’s Birthday, perfect timing. I used 2 stamps from Hero Arts – Lil Hoot (sentiment) & Sparkle Birthday (little frog). I also used the trio square die from SSS.
