This week at CHNC they have asked us to make a card that signifies Christmas in your country. I am from Canada and our flag is red and white, so I tried to stay with those two colours in my themed card. Everyone know we have polar bears, so I grabbed Bartholomew from Whipper Snapper Designs. Gosh knows we get snow, so I added snowflakes with a Stampin Up embossing folder. The Merry Christmas is a die from SSS.
]I included both photos, as one shows off the glitter more! I have also included a picture of the snow from last winter from my deck. We are currently 5-6 weeks late with our gardens this year.
I also entered this card in the monthly use pattern paper draw at craftyhazelnut’s use patterned paper - anything goes every month http://craftyhazelnutspatternedpaper.blogspot.co.uk/

Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenges #26 — Anything Goes
I designed my card specifically for the current challenge over at CAS on Sunday, Challenge #34 Color Scheme
I had three of the four exact colours but I was missing the plum. My other ink was more a grape. When I select colored cardstock, it matched the lid colour but it was a little off the actual ink stamped colors. I was trying to make the background more subtle I stamped off once and double stamped. I used Stampin Up – Off the Grid and Gorgeous Grunge, and 3 of my feather dies – Spellbinders, SSS, and Memory Box. The sentiment is from PI – Feather Finery.
I also entered Addicted to Stamps Challenge #97 – Make your Mark! & Addicted to CAS (I tried creating texture through stamping, embossed feathers and metal charm)
My card was selected as a CAS on Sunday favorite (my first recognition from this challenge site!
At PI – Make it Monday, Dawn demonstrated how to stamp and deboss the image. While I tried the technique, I reversed the order. I debossed the paper using the PI – Mighty Oak die, then stamped the leaves and trunk using the matching stamp set. The little birds are from Memory Box dies
The Male Room – Trees and Leaves
UPDATE: My card was selected as a Top 3 in the Male Room – Leaves and trees challenge
AAA Cards Challenge 4 – Create! Part 3 or third time’s the charm!
Have you ever had one of those days when you do everything wrong? Well I certainly did. I joined a great new challenge blog called AAA Card Challenge. This week’s challenge was “Create” but I never noticed the big “hint” Chalkboard! It was clearly written in Bold lettering, but my creative mind never got past the word Create! Sometimes I am such a numpy! Thankfully our host allows up to three entries, so I went back to the blackboard, literally, and made a new card more conducive to the theme.
I have never used the blackboard/chalk technique before but decided this card screamed it’s use. I used two stamps from MTF – Pure Innocence It’s a Sign & My Favorite Sentiments plus dies – BG Wood Planks, and the Papertrey Ink – Woodgrain Impression Plate. I coloured the word Heart with Copics to make the ART pop, and added a puffy heart from Doodlebug Designs. I added a piece of chalk and an eraser I cut out of scrap paper to add to the chalkboard ledge.
Note: It wasn’t until I took the photo of my card on my deck that I realized just how much the chalkboard “frame” I made with the die, texture plate and kraft paper looks like a real wooden frame – cool!
UPDATE: I am glad I remade my card and re-entered this card into the AAA challenge, because I was named as the challenge winner! They have posted next week’s challenge “play” and feature a cat in the inspiration photo. While I am a dog person, I have a number of cute cat stamps I can’t wait to try.
My card is inspired by the fashion pictorial at the Runway Inspired Challenge site. The young lady is modelling a top with a large bold yellow/black dog. There are some subtle tones of pink, gray, blue and black also added in. I used the colours, textures, and graphic designs in my card and made the focal point a large black and yellow dog. I used a number of stamps: Paper Smooches – Paws for a Cause, SSS – Circle of Friends, Stampin Up – Off the Grid and Grudge.
Update: While I did not place in this week’s challenge, my card was featured on the Runway Challenge Facebook page.
