The folks at Runway Inspired Challenge & CAS(E) this Sketch have teamed up for this weeks challenge. I decided to pull out my Prima Doll stamps and have the girl model a dress. I decided on DOLL WITH RUFFLE DRESS. I incorporated the sketch and mirrored the herringbone detail of the hat and large floral details of the model’s blouse. Because the doll is so large, the card measures 4.5 x 8.
I made up this little card on a monochromic theme. I love kraft paper, so I pooled all my craft paper together. I added extra dimension and texture using a pawprint embossing folder by Sizzix, the Gorgeous Grunge stamp by Stampin Up and the woodgrain kraft paper by SSS. The dies are by Paper Smooches and the little pup is from Whipper Snapper Designs.

I made this card specifically for these challenges:
1) The gals at Pals Paper Challenge had a great sketch this week with an added twist (monochrome) for more information about their challenges check out their blog at http://www.palspaperarts.com/
2) The Male Room offers challenges based on a “male” theme. Their current challenge is MAN’S BEST FRIEND/PET.
3) Without Words is holding a Gentleman’s Only birthday theme, so I adding my card. The sentiment on the front says “My Buddy”, but I added a birthday stamp on the inside.
4) “YES” FOR – THE EMBOSSABLE! Weekly Greetings Challenge at Outlawz. You are to use an embossed feature to the card.
I recently purchased the Hollyhocks rubber stamp from Penny Black. I wanted to try a couple of colouring techniques, so I stamped it twice with Unicorn white ink on black cardstock and coloured the images with Primacolour pencil crayons. Next I stamped two with versafine black and used my Inktense watercolour pencils, and lastly, I stamped two more with memento black and coloured with Copics. Here are the results.
It is really hard to find a christening card unless you go to a specialty store. I was asked to create a special card for a special baby and I decided to try another gatefold card (my second). I wanted to keep it simple, so I layered crosses (Spellbinders – Crosses 2) on the front, and I added the baby’s name, christening date, and a verse on the inside. The buggy is from Memory Box and the oval die cut is Opulent Ovals also from Spellbinders. I made up a belly band to hold the card closed and used the buggy die cut to embellish the band.
The Theme Challenge at 52 (Christmas) Card Throwdown is the 12 days of Christmas. I went for the second day – two turtle doves. I made a basic white on white card design. I designed two versions using dies and punches.
For my first card, I used my bird punch from Stampin Up. I accented the bird’s wing with clear wink of Stella. Vs using the branch that comes with the punch, I optd for a more dramatic branch, so I die cut the Holly Berries by Penny Black. Before I inlaid it, I coloured the holly with lt. green copics. I added pearl berries from my stash.
For my second version, I used the Nature’s Song dies by Penny Black. I cut one then flipped the cardstock over and cut a second one to mirror the first. I softly shaded the birds in blue-gray. I glued a heart behind the birds to further highlight them. I dotted clear Stickles on each of the berries. The peace sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. I also layered the card on white & blue to bring out the doves.
UPDATE: My #1 turtle doves received a CAS favorite of the week ending April 26, 2014. To read more see http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/general-stamping-talk-f17/heart-cas-clean-simple-favorites-week-ending-april-27-2014-a-t586944.html Post 15.
