Today at Papertrey Ink, Melissa showed us how to make a card using scraps in a pie shape. With all the PI dies I have, I don’t have the new tree shape, so I created my wedges by trimming 1 x 4″ pieces and my tonic trimmer. I used the Scalloped Doily die from MFT, Button Punch by Martha Stewart, and Congrats die from PI.
Today’s challenge was to use glitter! Me and glitter don’t get along very well…it follows me around for months. If you have never seen Sandy Allnock’s video on the dangers of crafting, featuring glitter check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4A5-luQh8A&feature=youtu.be It is too funny!
I tend to make CAS cards and it is hard with glitter is involved, but here I go. I used the tree dies from Impression Obsession, circle stax from MFT and Joy from PI.
Challenges I designed this card for:
1) 52 Christmas Card Throwdown
2) Completely Christmas
3) Less is More
4) CAS on Sunday challenge 32
5) Keep it Simple #38
Update: I received an honourable mention for my Christmas card at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown! Thanks ladies…
Nichole Heady at Papertrey Ink demonstrated how to use water splats to detail your inked background. For full details check out her blog for at http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/make-it-monday/.
I used various blue and green distress inks to make the background, added the water drops, then die cut 2 leaves from Papertrey Ink – Leaf Prints Die Collection and inlayed them on the card.
UPDATE: My card was selected as a Weekly Favorite of the Week ending May 4, 2014 on Splitcoast Stampers Post #64. For more information see http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/2513196
The Thursday Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaster stampers showed a number of children from the Mark & Spencers Spring Catalogue. I was inspired by a little girl wearing a blue and white daisy dress. I used Prima’s new Little girl Stamp. The background die is called Floral fusion by MFT.
