Please note: The Challenge Owner is dealing with some personal issues and has just notified us that she is closing The Glory of Christmas Challenge vs letting someone else take the challenge over. This will be the last challenge posted. I would like to extend my personal thanks to everyone who has entered our challenges, and to thank all my fellow Design Team members.
I picked this challenge. I keep white, off-white, and kraft card stock on hand for my card bases however I don’t often use kraft card stock for Christmas cards, thus the focus of the challenge. For the images of this card I used retired Waltzing Mouse – Way out West. I have only used this stamp set once back in March 2014 (see my first attempt here). When I was looking for inspiration, I looked through a old Paper Crafts – Holiday Cards & More Volume 8 magazine. I saw a card made by Tara Cardwell and made a similar version so I can’t take credit for the design. Here is my adaptation. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink. I used various Distress Inks, Hero Arts-Black, and Versamark with gold embossing powder.
For this challenge, the Design Team was inspired to make a card using only die cuts or punches. This is harder than it sounds. I purchased an adorable Die-namics Santa Suit die from MFT a while ago and thought this was the perfect time to use it. To add interest, I embossed the “suit” with various Christmas embossing folders from my stash. The Merry Christmas sentiment is from Dee’s Distincively.
Please join us. This challenge runs from July 17th to July 29th, 2016.
The GoC Design team is challenging you to make a card using two or more patterned papers. I used two patterned papers from my stash and layered them with my image. The snowman stamp is called, “Gilmor” by Whipper Snapper Designs. I hand coloured him using Copic markers, then fussy cut him out. The sentiment is a pre-printed vellum tag by DCWV.
Our challenge runs from July 3rd to July 15th

For this challenge, our inspiration is Stars! I thought about looking at the stars on a cold winter’s evening. I created my cards using three different die cuts and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink. For the starry night I used SSS – Falling Stars. I backed the cut out stars with silver foil paper. The houses and trees scene was created with Memory Box – 98239 Country Landscape craft dies. I coloured the windows yellow with a Copic marker. And finally I added a road using Impression Obsessions - Winding Road/Stream. It was backed with the same black as the sky. I added the sentiment, and layered the image with silver and black cardstock.
Please join us June 19th until July 1st, 2016
For Challenge #86 the GoC Design team challenges you to make a card that does use patterned paper. I love this little mouse stamp by Penny Black called “Xmouse Ornament”. I coloured him with Copic markers. Next I stamped the snowflake background and sentiment from Avery Elle Stamps, “LET IT SNOW” set. I finally added various snowflake die cuts from Paper Smooches and Marianne Designs.
Our challenges runs from June 6th until June 17th
