Outlawz – Thursday with a Twist – Fun in the Sun – June 22nd

GuestDesignerBadge2017

Hello everyone. I was invited to be a guest designer for the month of June by the DT team at Outlawz. You can join for free! They have a fabulous blog – full of challenges, tutorials, forum, freebies, gallery and more. I am designing for their Thursday Twist Challenges. This challenge is “open” with a added twist each week. This week’s Twist is “Fun in the Sun.” I designed two different cards for this challenge. Click on the link below to find out more about this fabulous group, The Outlawz Challenges. I made two cards for this challenge. This month’s sponsor is Whimsy Stamps.

Card 1: For my first card,  The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps, called “Vintage Sentiments.” This is my “Go To” for digital sentiment stamps. There are 14 general script sentiment stamps with this file. I used an adorable Bugaboo (retired) stamp  called, “Sumduckdive.”. I coloured him with Copics, fussy cut him out and set aside. Next I arranged the layout and using Sun die from MFT - SUN, MOON & STARS, and the wave and fish dies from Marianne Designs - Eline’s Whale and Eline’s Tropical Fish. I assembled the card using glue and dimensionals and added some gem bubbles for the finishing touch.

Outlawz – Thursday with a Twist – June 22nd*

GuestDesignerBadge2017

*I made the two cards shown below for next week’s challenge, “Anything Goes” but they were accidentally posted for this week’s challenge. The reason I mention this is because they really don’t depict “Fun in the Sun.” They were able to add the correct cards so these are sort of  a bonus. Things happen, sorry for any confusion.  - Myrna

Card 1: For my first card, I was going for a vintage feel. I used various stamps from Tim Holtz and one of his newer dies called, Dapper.” I used a retired background stamp by JustRite for the card background, brown card stock, dimensional foam tape, and distress inks to add dimension/texture. The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps, called “Vintage Sentiments.”

Card 2: I wanted to make a more modern, colourful card for my second card. I used a stamp set from Psper Smooches called, “Metropolis.” I coloured the images with Copic Markers.I fussy cut everything out. Next I arranged the cityscape and glued everything to the base card. The final step was adding the sentiment. I used a SU tag punch to cut the sentiment out. I cut a duplicate tag in red, cut it in half, then outlined the sentiment. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps called, “Vintage Sentiments.”

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 421 – 22nd of June – Animals

DTbadgeA couple of months back. I took a class with Heather Telford. She is on the Design Teams for both Penny Black and Darkroom Door. She showed us how to create beautiful and colourful backgrounds using Distress Ink Stains on watercolour paper. These are the cards I made at home. The stamp sets are from Darkroom Door - Background Stamp – Tribal and Rubber Stamp Set – African Trees.

I stamped the images first and let dry for five minutes. Next using a wide brush and plain water I wet the paper surface. Next using the same brush I blending various shades of yellow, orange and red. Once dry, I glued image to the card base and added a sentiment.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 419 – 8th of June – Inspired by a Film

DTbadge

For this challenge I did a little twist, vs being inspired by a movie, I was inspired about going to the movies! I used an adorable little girl stamp by Lacy Sunshine Stamps called Rory’s Movie Snacks. I coloured her with Spectrum Noir Markers. I added glossy accents to her eye. I made two versions of the card to show that simple design layouts can change the feel of the card.movies1

Happy Birthday Dear CRAFT Challenge
Happy Birthday To Us!

Can you believe it? CRAFT Challenge is already 8 years old. Originally started by Tracy from Just Tracy Crafts and with a DT mostly recruited from Trimcraft forum members (Hence the term CRAFT Challenge, which stood for Crafters Residing Are Friendly Trimmies. Or if you wished alternative meaning of Can’t Remember A Flipping Thing) on the 4th of May 2009.
We have now grown to be a large team of Design Team Members from all around the world, supplemented with several Guest Designers who join us for a month or a week at a time.

We have always welcomed all kinds of craft, not just paper craft (unless specifically stated so in the challenge at the time) and are happy to have such a large group of faithful followers.
So, how are we going to celebrate this milestone?
