Simply Create Too – Challenge #153 – Sept. 6 to Sept. 27 – AG/No Twist

1 Simply Create 2 DTThis month the Simply Create Too Challenge #153 is to make a card/project with no twists! I needed to make an extra special Happy 40th Birthday card. I  found a great SVG file called 30 Candles from 3DCuts. The SVG template can be made to any size card. I added an additional 40 candles. I made the card using my Cricut machine and thought it would be a fairly simple and fast card to make, but in the end, there were over 245 pieces!

Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge – September 2019

Here at Crafty Hazelnut’s Patterned Paper Challenge, we challenge you to use patterned paper in your project. If you are like me, I buy a lot of patterned paper, but never use it. What are you waiting for! I have all the MFT Blueprint Dienamics. They were specifically designed to help the maker create fun card layouts. I used MFT #3 Blueprints for my card design and added a Copic coloured stamped image called Bear Bunny from Hambo.

Simply Create Too – Challenge #151 – July 5 to July 26 – AG/Opt Twist Use Pattern Paper

1 Simply Create 2 DT

This month at Simply Crete Too, the design team is looking for a project that uses patterned paper. My little grandson just celebrated his 6th birthday. When he was born I made him a lovely picture for his wall using the saying “what are little boys made of.” Fast forward 6 years, and he feels it is a little too “baby” for him. So me, in my wisdom, told him I would make him a new picture, I problem, I asked him what he would like. His immediate response was Black Panther!. OMG, how do I do a 3D picture of BP? Well, I search the web and was able to purchase an SVG file of the Black Panther character, one of Africa and one of the BP script. Hours later I put it all together-never again!

I found fabulous 12 x 12 leafy patterned paper for the background. I cut all my main images using my Cricut Explorer Air. I welded the BP logo on the map of Africa and cut it out approximately 7″ tall from a map patterned cardstock. I backed the logo with black cardstock then added it to the background using one layer of foam tape so start the 3D effect. Because the Cricut will not cut edge to edge on the 12 x 12 mat, I created a grass border frame 11 x 11 and layered it on the background using 2 layers of foam tape. Next, I added Black Panther figure with 3 layers of foam tape. For the final steps, I added various die cut leaves from my collections of die -Memory Box, MFT, Penny Black, SSS.

The Black Panther SVG was my first attempt at a multi-layered image. I think the SVG was designed more for a t-shirt then for my purpose and the details were extremely hard to do. I had problems with glue showing as I had to lift and reposition lines multiple times. To resolve the issue, I sprayed it with semi-matte lacquer. After 3 coats it covered the glue.

I also made Brock’s birthday cards using the same BP character but I printed the image on my colour HP printer and layered it on the Africa cut. He loved it. If you have any questions, please email me for more details.

C.R.A.F.T. – Challenge 508 – 4th of April – Inspired by a Song

Click here to go to challenge blog

The C.R.A.F.T. Design Team is looking for a project inspired by a song. With St. Patrick’s Day just passed, I was listening to the Irish Rovers. One of my favourite songs is their Unicorn Song. Yesterday was my honorary granddaughter’s Fourth birthday. Her theme was “Unicorn Princess”. I racked my brain for ideas because I wanted to make her something extra special. I ended up with a Unicorn Princess paperscape shadowbox. For the base of the picture I used Dreaming Tree’s, For Mom SVG Bundle and added the Unicorn Princess SVG from Printable Cuttable Creatables. All the papers, gems, pearls, were from my stash. The shadow box was picked up when Hobby Lobby had their buy one get one free sale. Everything was cut with my Cricut Explore Air and Design Space. I did cut 4 sets of eyelashes and doubled them up for more dimension. My granddaughter loved it. She loves her bling! Note: It was hard to photograph as the picture was behind glass.
