C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 455 – 15th of February – Mothers’ Day/Female

DTbadge

The CRAFT CHALLENGE this week is to make a Mother’s Day or Female Card. I have a friend who loves everything “Pug”, so when I discovered this stamp by CARABELLE STUDIO called, “To Be or Not To Be”, I just had to make her a card. I started by colouring the dog with Copic markers to match her own little pug. Next, I die cut it out using a double stitched circle die from MFT, selected a paper with picture frames, added glass frames from dies by Taylored Expressions, and finished with adding Glossy Accents to the pug’s glasses.

C.R.A.F.T. – Challenge 453 – 1st of February – Three of a Kind

DTbadge

This week the C.R.A.F.T. Design Team is challenging you to think of Three of a Kind. For my card, I decided to try out my new Altenew Layering Stamp – Tulip Stamp Set. I love tulips. They are my favorite flowers! With this stamp set, you stamp various coloured inks (Hero Arts/Stampin’ Up) in layers vs hand colouring the image. I used my Misti to help me line up the stamps and I think I did a pretty good job on my first attempt. The grass was created using a Lawn Fawn die.

Outlawz – Thursday with a Twist – June 22nd*

GuestDesignerBadge2017

*I made the two cards shown below for next week’s challenge, “Anything Goes” but they were accidentally posted for this week’s challenge. The reason I mention this is because they really don’t depict “Fun in the Sun.” They were able to add the correct cards so these are sort of  a bonus. Things happen, sorry for any confusion.  - Myrna

Hello everyone. I was invited to be a guest designer for the month of June by the DT team at Outlawz. You can join for free! They have a fabulous blog – full of challenges, tutorials, forum, freebies, gallery and more. I am designing for their Thursday Twist Challenges. This challenge is “open” with a added twist each week. This week’s Twist is “Anything Goes.”  I designed two different cards for this challenge. Click on the link below to find out more about this fabulous group! The Outlawz ChallengesI made two cards for this challenge.

Card 1: For my first card, I was going for a vintage feel. I used various stamps from Tim Holtz and one of his newer dies called, Dapper.” I used a retired background stamp by JustRite for the card background, brown card stock, dimensional foam tape, and distress inks to add dimension/texture. The sentiment is by Whimsy Stamps, called “Vintage Sentiments.”

Card 2: I wanted to make a more modern, colourful card for my second card. I used a stamp set from Psper Smooches called, “Metropolis.” I coloured the images with Copic Markers.I fussy cut everything out. Next I arranged the cityscape and glued everything to the base card. The final step was adding the sentiment. I used a SU tag punch to cut the sentiment out. I cut a duplicate tag in red, cut it in half, then outlined the sentiment. The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps called, “Vintage Sentiments.”

The Outlawz Challenges

I made two cards to mark the challenge. I started with making the galaxy background. I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi 24 watercolors. After taping my watercolour paper to a board, using a wide brush, I applied clear water to the paper. Next I randomly added various bright colours: yellow, orange, red, blue, purple. Once they dried I coloured the background with dark blue and black leaving small bits of the bright colours to show through. I let dry again. For the final touch I splattered white over the background to create stars. I set aside to dry.

Card 1

For my first card, I did a space theme. I used Hambo‘s digi stamp, Space Boy Set. I coloured him with Copic marks and fussy cut him and the planets out. Next I glued them on the background. I added mini die cut stars from SSS. I mounted the background on black card stock. The final step was adding a sentiment by Whimsy Stamps called, “Vintage Sentiments – Digital Sentiments.”

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 417 – 25th of May – Fathers’ Day/Male

DTbadgeWe tend to make more female cards than male cards. With Father’s Day coming we are challenging you to make either a Father’s Day card, or a card more suitable for a guy. For this challenge I used an adorable stamp by Dr. Digi’s House of Stamps called, Summer Holidays.” I coloured the image using my Spectrum Noir markers. I fussy cut him out and put him aside. Next using a retired map background stamp by JustRite I stamped a piece of 4.25 x 5.5 white and kraft card stock. I coloured the backgrounds with Distress Inks. I made one card suitable for a Happy Retirement card and the other to wish someone a great holiday.
