Last month I was asked by Crafting by Designs to be a Guest Designer in February. Their weekly challenge starting February 18th is a Bingo Challenge with an “Anything Goes” subject matter. I was very honoured to join in!
I opted to go with Pearls/Die Cuts/Ribbon. I made two versions of my card: White on Red (more detail) & Red on White (simpler design). The heart die I used is Vernay Heart by Memory Box. The die has extra details, so I put it through my Big Shot twice, once to cut, and once with a rubber mat to emboss. For the white heart, I cut out the heart twice and fussy cut the flowers and then popped them up with foam tape for added dimension. The Love Script die is by Memory Box, the tag/heart is from Blueprints by MFT, and the stamped sentiment is from Paper Hugs by SSS. I added pearls and ribbon from my stash to complete the look.

I entered my First card (with Love die cut) into the following challenges:

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Canadian Flag #red & white so I thought my red and white Valentine card was a perfect tribute.
Crafty Card Makers – Love
Incy Wincy Designs – White on white with a touch of colour
Crafty Creations Challenge - #283 – White Plus One
I am very honoured to be working with a great group of ladies for the month of January as a Guest Designer at Cardz 4 Guys. This week’s Challenge at Cardz 4 Guys is Anything Goes. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would make a “I Love You” card for the special little guys in my life (He is almost 2). Anyone who knows me, knows I love sheep, so Bugaboo’s – Happy Valentine’s to Ewe is perfect. I coloured him with Copics, layered him on “manly” papers, and added an, “I love Ewe”. I rounded the card edges with my 1/2″ corner chomper, and added a couple of die cut hearts. This was a super easy card to make and took me less than 10 minutes – start to finish!
This Challenges runs from January 20th until January 26th. Hope to see you there!
Last month I was asked by Butterfly Challenge to be a Guest Designer this January. I was very honoured. The challenge was to design a card with butterflies (of course), but the twist was to add some brads.
I selected one of my favorite digi stamps from Delicious Doodles called Fae. I coloured the little fairy and her butterfly friends with Copic Markers. I highlighted her eyes with Glossy Accents and added Ranger’s Diamond Glitter to her wings. I layered the image using Spellbinder’s - 5 x 7 Detailed Scallops Dies and paper from my stash, then secured the main card and die to the front panel using 4 brads in the corners.
The Challenge runs from Wednesday 14th January and closes at 2000hrs (GMT)
on Tuesday 27th January. Please join us!
I entered my card into Glitter n Sparkle Challenge – Add Some Pink (pink brads, lips, and accents in butterfly wings)
I am very honoured to be working with a great group of ladies for the month of January as a Guest Designer at Cardz 4 Guys. This challenge marks C4G First Birthday, so Let’s get out there and support them. The theme for Cardz 4 Guys is Happy Birthday. I thought I would make a bright, fun card for this week’s challenge. I used a stamp from Impression Obsession called Smile. I embossed the watercolour paper with white embossing powder, heat set, then applied distress inks. I first pressed the inks to my craft mat, spritzed with a little water, and used my aquabrush to brush on the colours. Once dry I layered it to the card face. On the card inside, I continued the laughter with a Hambo stamp – Laughing. I coloured the stamped image with Copics. The inside greeting (computer generated) says, “Wait a Minute…You are How Old? Happy Birthday Old Man!”
This Challenge runs from January 13th until January 19th. Hope you will join our Celebration!
I entered my card into Come and Get it – Humourous
I am very honoured to be working with a great group of ladies for the month of January as a Guest Designer at Cardz 4 Guys. This week’s challenge at Cardz 4 Guys is Vintage. I made two versions on my card, one using a cream card stock background, the other using kraft. I started by stamping the background with JustRite - Vintage Travel Background Cling Stamp in brown ink. I then distressed the edges using the Tim Holtz Distressing tools, crumpled the paper up, smoothed it back down, and used brown tones distress inks to age the stamped image. The plane is also by JustRite - Going Places Vintage Labels Cling Stamps. I coloured the plane and sky with Copics, then used distress ink to age the image. I layered the images, added some twine. The metal gears are from Tim Holtz. I did not add a sentiment to the front, as that can be done later. I thought this card would work as a Birthday, Going Away, Thinking of You, or as a “just because” card for that special guy.
The Challenge will run from January 6 until January 13, 2015. I hope to see you there!
